YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK

Established in 1872, Yellowstone National Park is a national treasure. Located primarily in Wyoming, the park also extends into Montana and Idaho. Yellowstone has active geothermal features with geysers and boiling mud pots throughout the park. Travelers be warned, July is the busiest month of the year, with almost a million visitors alone. The park has a tour bus system, nine visitor centers, and 2,000 campsites. It has 88 attractions, and here's the top 10.

Lower Falls

#1 Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone - Truly amazing! There are lots of turnouts and walks to see it from different viewpoints. Take advantage of these and enjoy the scenery.

#2 Lower Yellowstone River Falls - The lower falls are majestic and never disappoint. What an amazing area to view. Make sure you stop at the brink of the upper and lower falls as well.

#3 Upper Geyser Basin - So much to see in the park yet visitors selected this area as an outstanding wonder. Just about every natural wonder is here. Pools, boiling mud, fantastic colors: it's all here.

#4 Artist Point - Wonderful spot to see all the colors radiated to the surface by thousand years of volcanic thermal action. Not to be missed in Yellowstone!

#5 Midway Geyser Basin - Very interesting and colorful hot springs. Rivers of hot water from the springs pouring into the flowing river. Display of steam blowing in the wind is amazing. Beautiful walkway around the hot springs!


Grand Prismatic

#6 Grand Prismatic Spring - One has to experience this natural phenomenon for oneself as another's words cannot adequately convey the beauty of this place.

#7 Hayden Valley - Great wildlife viewing! Bison, of course, and also bears and coyotes all around the valley. Great expensive views of the valley and the Yellowstone River made for wonderful landscape.


Uncle Tom

#8 Uncle Tom's Trail - Its an easy 328 steps down but a very hard 328 steps back up. The reward once you get there is simply amazing. The waterfall is beautiful. Great photo opportunity once you get there.

#9 Yellowstone Lake - A big, blue, beautiful, and full of surprises. It is also freezing. Unlike many of the other hot spring features throughout Yellowstone, the lake is super cold.

#10 Biscuit Basin - Visitors love this basin and particularly love the 1.5 hour loop hike around to Mystic Falls. Easy walk which takes in fabulous view of park and the beautiful falls and river. Highly recommend!

MAUI - HAWAII

#2 Pipiwai Trail - A truly fantastic hike! The Pipiwai Trail hike is located in the Haleakala National Park at Oheo Gulch. It is a 4 mile round trip hike up a valley to a 400-feet water fall with many great sites along the way.

#3 Haleakala Crater - The drive up to view the sunrise from the summit of the Halekala Crater is long, and has to be completed early in the morning. The road is in very good shape, with guard rails most of the way, and give yourself time to enjoy the incredible landscape even after the sun has come up.

#4 Haleakala National Park - At the extreme end of the paved roads the extend beyond Hana on the east end of Maui. A great place to experience sunrise, a hike to the waterfalls and pools. Take a lunch and make it a day!

#5 Maluaka Beach - Visitors just loved this beach. It is a very small private looking beach! The water are clear and calm. So much fun snorkeling in this area!

#6 Ka'anapali Beach - One of the best beaches in Maui, a favourite for relaxation as well as water sports.

#7 Napili Beach - Perfect! Everything you need. Not overly crowded. Great for paddleboarding, snorkeling, sunbathing, and dining. Scenery is always beautiful and nice breeze too.

Kapalua Bay

#8 Kapalua Beach - Amazing beach just after Lahaina. Crystal and calm waters, good for children and swimming. Little and very flat waves. The great advantage of Kalapalua Beach is the coral reefs very close to the beach and with a lot of fish.

#9 Wailea Beach - Beautiful beach with incredible aqua marine blue water and soft sand, paradise! The water is very comfortable, and if there are some waves, bring your board of a tube to enjoy the drifts. At sunset, sights are incredibly stunning!

#10 Kapalua Coastal Trail - This is a very nice, well maintained trail - paved and boarded in a lot of places. Certainly not a "wilderness experience", but it provides excellent views of a pretty amazing stretch of Maui coastline.
